Nextera Video’s mission is to help equipment manufacturers IP-enable their products quickly and easily. We specialize in the education and development of ST 2110, ST 2059, NMOS, and IPMX solutions. Our industry-leading ST 2110, ST 2059, and IPMX FPGA Cores and NMOS control software have been deployed worldwide, helping dozens of customers successfully and competitively reposition their products in the IP era of Broadcast and Professional AV.

We offer a complete uncompressed (or compressed) AV over IP solution that is fully interoperable based on ST 2110, ST 2059, NMOS, and IPMX standards. The Nextera solution provides everything needed for turn-key AV over IP including FPGA cores, drivers, control software, web GUI, and reference designs. Design services are also available to help get products to market quickly and easily.

Management

Jed Deame, Chief Executive Officer

Jed brings executive leadership and strategic direction to the company. Before joining Nextera, Jed served as VP & General Manager of Barco, a $1B Belgian display company. Jed led the California Image Processing site of over 200 employees. Prior to Barco, Jed was Co-founder of Teranex/Silicon Optix, a video processing company serving the television broadcast and consumer display markets. Jed developed the concept for the Emmy Award winning Video Computer, changing the paradigm for video processing equipment forever, replacing dedicated hardware with a real-time software based solution. Jed also led the development of the Hollywood Quality Video “HQV” de-interlacing and scaling algorithm suite which set a new standard of quality for the industry. Jed received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Steven Kaufmann, President

Steve brings both business and technical leadership to the company. Steve drives the IP development, manages customer expectations, and ensures that the team meets its commitments. Steve has extensive experience with all aspects of operational management including development engineering, sales, marketing, and operational excellence. Prior to Nextera, Steve served as Deputy General Manager and Director of Operations for Silicon Optix where he led the team in the production of high reliability electronics for the television broadcast industry. Steve earned his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.

Bob Wood, Vice President, Engineering

Bob complements the Nextera leadership team with many years of technical engineering team leadership and program management experience. His strong background in technical development comes from a history in both defense and commercial industry, having led successful development programs for both Lockheed Martin (defense contractor) and Teranex (commercial video) companies. His experience creating and leading multi-discipline engineering teams helped refine technical, cost, and schedule baseline development and execution skills. Technical contributions have been made on projects producing products in IR tracking, radar identification and tracking, biometric identification systems, video processing and conversion, and the Joint Strike Fighter (F35), as well as others. Bob attended the US Naval Academy and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and received Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Liviu Voicu, PhD, Chief Scientist

Liviu is a PhD in Electrical Engineering with extensive expertise in embedded digital signal processing, computer vision, and machine learning. Prior to Nextera, Liviu has served as Chief Scientist for both an automatic license plate recognition firm and an ADAS/ LIDAR Processing firm working on self-driving vehicle technology. Liviu also has experience in detection algorithms for explosive trace and improvised explosive devices, see-through-the-wall applications, and medical signal processing algorithms. Liviu was part of the Teranex team that developed the Emmy Award winning Video Computer platform. Liviu has authored numerous video processing algorithms including compression noise reduction, image regularization, adaptive contrast enhancement, and motion compensated film grain removal. Liviu’s expertise also covers high performance architectures such as FPGAs, GPUs, SIMD, and the Cell Broadband Engine. Liviu has authored and coauthored patents, peer-reviewed scientific journal publications, conference publications, and book chapters.
