The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) invites attendees of the 2025 NAB Show to join “IPMX Training: The Essentials,” an exclusive, in-depth training session focused on IPMX, the emerging open standard for AV-over-IP based on SMPTE ST 2110 and AMWA NMOS. Super Bowl LXI may still be two years away, but ESPN is already ringing in its first Super Bowl season with a new state-of-the-art mobile unit from Game Creek Video. Dubbed Flagship, the three-truck SMPTE ST 2110 facility was designed specifically to produce a Super Bowl–level show in UHD HDR and will serve as home to ESPN’s NBA A-game and Monday Night Football shows prior to Super Bowl LXI on ABC/ESPN in February 2027.

Among professional-sports venues, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the busiest in the country. After providing world-class experiences for seven years, its in-house production space needed a refresh to keep up with the year-long schedule. Implemented in three phases during 2024, new SMPTE 2110–powered control rooms have upgraded production quality in Atlanta.

Video Services Forum (VSF) today announced that the VidTrans 2025 conference and exposition will take place Feb. 25-27 at the Marina del Rey Marriott in Marina del Rey, Calif. The 2025 event will address security in media production, evolving live media cloud connectivity, IPMX, and other cutting-edge technologies.

Created by AIMS in collaboration with VSF and AMWA, IPMX implements a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110, with features and capabilities that target the specific needs of the broadcast and Pro AV industries. In addition to simplifying the implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ensuring interoperability for AV-over-IP systems, IPMX incorporates core features tailored to Pro AV installations.

2024 may just go down as the year of SMPTE ST 2110. Enabling sports broadcasters to move uncompressed video, audio, and metadata over dedicated IP networks with low latency, the set of IP standards drew new attention from broadcasters and production facilities alike in 2024. More broadcasters and production teams embraced the technology, often in an IP sandbox, or hybrid SDI/IP environment, to seamlessly deliver uncompressed 4K/UltraHD HDR video across productions.
